STUDIO DRAWINGS
‘20th May 2010 The Retreat from Winter’ – 1500mm sq.The current studio drawings are large at five feet square. These drawings are explorations of formal ideas like layering, shifting planes, fault lines, breaking out of the envelope of the page of the square, tension between marks. All these ideas are connected to visual stimuli absorbed from the landscape, especially in winter when the structure of things is so much more apparent. All these notions only inform what I do.
